Rochester has a real indoor air quality problem that gets worse at specific times of year. Spring and early summer bring high pollen counts from grass, trees, and ragweed across Monroe, Wayne, and Ontario Counties. iWave air purifiers. The iWave is a needle-point bi-polar ionization device that mounts inside your existing air handler or ductwork. It generates positive and negative ions that attach to airborne particles (including viruses, bacteria, mold spores, allergens, and odor-causing compounds), causing them to cluster together and fall out of the airstream or get captured by the filter. No consumables, no ozone produced, no maintenance beyond an annual cleaning. One iWave treats the entire home through the existing duct system. It works whether or not you upgrade the filter at the same time.
Aprilaire whole-home media filters. Aprilaire high-efficiency media filters replace your existing filter slot with a larger, deeper filter housing that holds a MERV 11 or MERV 13 media filter. These filters have significantly more surface area than a standard 1-inch filter, which means they capture more without restricting airflow the way a standard high-MERV filter can. One Aprilaire media filter lasts 6 to 12 months before needing replacement, versus monthly for a standard filter. Aprilaire also makes whole-home air purifier models that combine a media filter with an electronic air cleaner.
Honeywell whole-home filtration. Similar in principle to the Aprilaire media filter approach, Honeywell's whole-home filtration systems integrate with your existing forced-air system and treat air at the handler level rather than room by room. We install Honeywell products where they are the right fit for the existing HVAC configuration.

To install a whole-home filtration upgrade, your home needs a forced-air HVAC system with ductwork. That means a gas furnace with central AC, a heat pump with air handler, or any ducted system where air is moving through a filter and a blower. Homes with hot water boilers and no forced air do not have the ductwork needed for this type of upgrade (for those homes, room air purifiers are the alternative, though we do not sell those).
The iWave installs in about an hour. An Aprilaire or Honeywell media filter housing installation typically takes two to three hours depending on the existing filter slot configuration. Both upgrades are non-invasive and do not require modifying the ductwork itself.
