No heat in winter, no cool in a heat wave, busted lines. We answer the phone day or night, weekends included.
A lot of so-called furnace tune-ups are a filter swap and a glance. That is not a tune-up. When we service a furnace we clean it, test how it is running, check the safety parts, and look hard at the parts most likely to fail. On Penfield's older furnaces, that last part is the whole point, because a weak igniter or a straining inducer motor caught in the fall is a cheap fix, and the same part quitting in January is a cold house and an emergency call.
Because we service every brand, gas and oil, it does not matter who installed your furnace. Justin or Colby does the work, so the person cleaning your furnace is the one who can tell you honestly how much life it has left. You get a straight read on how it is doing and what, if anything, it needs.
Justin VanCassele and Colby Baker run AmeriHeat together. Colby is a veteran. Both owners are on jobs every week across Rochester and Monroe, Wayne and Ontario Counties.

A full furnace tune-up is more than a filter swap. This is the work we do on every Penfield furnace we service.
We check the filter and replace it if it is dirty. A clogged filter chokes airflow, overworks the furnace, and is the number one cause of avoidable breakdowns.
On an older Penfield furnace, this is the part that pays for the visit. We test the igniter, the inducer motor, the flame sensor, and the blower, the parts that quit first at fifteen-plus years, and we flag anything wearing out so you can fix it now instead of on a freezing night.
We inspect the heat exchanger for cracks, test the combustion, and check for carbon monoxide, the thing you cannot see or smell. Older furnaces are exactly where these problems show up.
We clean the burners and check the flame. Dirty burners waste fuel, run rough, and can cause the sooting or uneven flame that leads to bigger problems.
We check the blower, the motor, and the airflow so the furnace moves heat through your home evenly and does not overheat and short cycle.
We inspect the wiring, the control board, and the safety switches, then test the thermostat so the whole system starts, runs, and stops the way it should.
No subcontractors and no rushed checklists. Justin or Colby does the full tune-up and gives you a straight report on your Penfield furnace.
Once a year, before the heating season. Fall is the ideal time, because it gets the furnace clean, safe, and ready right before winter. On an older Penfield furnace it matters even more, since the whole value of the visit is catching a tired part before it fails in the cold. If you have a heat pump or a system that also cools, a second visit in spring keeps the cooling side ready too. The one job that is yours in between is changing the filter every one to three months.
A gas furnace should be cleaned, tested, and safety checked once a year, ideally in the fall before the cold sets in.
An oil furnace needs annual service more than gas does. The nozzle, filter, and soot buildup all need attention every year, and it is work we genuinely know.
When a furnace is newer, a tune-up mostly keeps it efficient. When it is fifteen or twenty years old, the tune-up becomes an early-warning system. A weak igniter, a straining inducer motor, a blower bearing starting to go, these give signs before they fail completely, and a real tune-up is when we catch them. Fixing a fading part in October is a routine, planned repair. The same part quitting in January is a cold house, an emergency fee, and a scramble. The tune-up is how you stay on the planned side of that.
If we find your furnace is close to the end, we will tell you honestly, with no pressure, so you can plan a replacement on your terms instead of being forced into one mid-winter.
This is the part most people do not know until it is too late. Most furnace manufacturers require proof of regular professional maintenance to honor a warranty claim. If a part fails in year six and you cannot show the furnace was maintained, the manufacturer can deny the claim and you pay out of pocket. A documented tune-up is cheap insurance against a bill like that.
We keep a record of every tune-up we do on your Penfield furnace, so if you ever need to make a warranty claim, you have the maintenance history to back it up.
A clean, well-tuned furnace uses less fuel to make the same heat, so your winter bills stay lower. It also lasts longer and breaks down less. A neglected furnace might give up in twelve or fifteen years, while a maintained one can run well past twenty. Spending a little on a yearly tune-up is far cheaper than a mid-winter no-heat repair or an early replacement.
Book a tune-up with the owners. No plan required, just a real service and safety check.
A standard furnace tune-up takes about an hour, sometimes a bit longer on an older unit or an oil furnace that needs extra cleaning. We do not rush it. The whole point is doing the full job right, especially the safety checks and the wear inspection, and we will tell you what we found before we leave.
